Thursday's
- Brienne Brown will be teaching
Yoga for Climbers from 6:45pm to 8:00pm at the North
Austin Rock Gym.
We
will be focusing on overall flexibility and strengthening as well
as specific areas of weakness commonly found in climbers such
as hip and shoulder flexibility as well as elbow and finger strength.
Each instructor will show you how to reduce the potential for
injury as well as aid in the recovery from existing injuries.

Just
like rock climbing, yoga is about opposing lines of energy, about
suspending from your core, about finding the lightness of being
in the face of challenge. Climbers know a lot about this. You
know you aren't going to manhandle
your way to the top of the wall. All the muscle in the world is
not as powerful as finding balance and finess while understanding
how to locate your center of gravity. In our yoga classes well
be focusing on opening up the body by
developing the combination of length, strength and flexibility.
Well concentrate on hip, back and shoulder openers as well
as building core strength and working opposition muscles to avoid
climbing injuries. And of course, the breath. So come join us.
By the way, feel free to bring your mama but shed
better be hardcore.
